Eight Years

Jeff & Lisa Photography turns eight years this month. In our wildest dreams as wide-eyed kids with the barest of equipment, we never imagined a better eight years. We fell in love with photography and decided that this was what we wanted to do for the rest of our lives. We were young, crazy, and had nothing to lose. We quit our jobs and pursued this headfirst and wholeheartedly. It’s surreal to be writing this now, saying that it has been eight years, and eight wonderful years at that.

We have been wanting to update our logo since last year, but it didn’t feel right at the time, so we decided to wait until it did. This past week, I’ve had some time off and got to play around with typography, and somehow, things just fell into place in the most organic way.

I used fresher, cleaner fonts, and gave it room to breathe, and kept the curlicues but brought them together. We were both drawn to the idea of using it as a pattern and a seal, and I love that it’s a nod to the history of the brand. It’s nostalgia, and it feels a lot like going out to see the world and changing, but coming home. Or perhaps it’s as simple and nutty as “it feels right”. Much like falling in love and finding the one, when you know, you know.

It’s a mix of the new and the old, just like we’ve always been. We dig minimalist white spaces, neutrals, Scandinavian design, big cities, and digital conveniences, but love the romance of old movies, writing letters longhand, playing vinyl records, brewing that first cup of coffee every day from freshly ground beans, the countryside, this slowness of being, and stillness in real, quiet spaces when all the noise is stripped away.

We have made some minor changes on our blog as well, and shall be rolling out our new packaging and products over the next few weeks. We’re working with textures we love: linen, wood, leather, and thick cotton paper. Can’t wait to share them with you!

Thank you for being a part of our journey so far. Here’s to the next eight!
